Was macht den PC langsam? Wird der Computer überwacht? Security Task Manager unterstützt PC-Anwender im Kampf gegen Trojaner, Keylogger, Ad- und Spyware. Das Tool erkennt potentiell gefährliche Prozesse, welche den PC überwachen oder langsam machen. Hierzu zeigt die Software zu jedem Prozess neben Dateiname, Verzeichnispfad, Datei-Beschreibung usw. auch eine Sicherheitsbewertung. Diese basiert auf einer Analyse von Prozess-Eigenschaften wie Tastaturaufzeichnung, Browser-Überwachung, Autostart, Internetverbindungen und Tarnmethode.

Der Security Task Manager erkennt auch Virtuelle Treiber, Dienste, BHO's und getarnte Prozesse, die sich vor dem Windows Task-Manager verbergen. Da er nicht Datenbank-basiert ist, findet er neben neuer, unbekannter Spyware auch alle anderen potentiell gefährlichen Programme im Arbeitsspeicher. Der Security TaskManager muss nicht installiert werden. Man kann ihn direkt von USB-Stick, Diskette oder CD/DVD starten.

Prozesse lassen sich wie im Windows Taskmanager beenden oder sogar unter Quarantäne stellen. Dabei wird der Prozess beendet, die entsprechenden Dateien und Autostart-Registry-Einträge in einen Backup-Ordner verschoben. Bis zur endgültigen Löschung kann man den Prozess jederzeit wieder herstellen.

Mit der Vollversion erhält man zusätzlich SpyProtector, welche die Privatsphäre am Computer schützt. SpyProtector verhindert Tastatur- und Maus-Überwachung und macht so Keylogger oder andere Hacker-Tools unschädlich. SpyProtector warnt bei Autostart-Registryänderungen und schützt so vor Trojaner, die sich versteckt in die Windows Systemregistrierung eintragen. Weiterhin beseitigt SpyProtector alle Spuren, die man beim Surfen im Internet (z.B. Cookies, Cache, Verlauf, eingetippte Webadressen und temporäre Dateien) oder bei der Arbeit am PC hinterlässt. Insbesondere die Liste der zuletzt benutzen Programme (z.B. im Startmenü) und Dokumente (z.B. in Word, ACDSee, PDF, WinZip, Mediaplayer).
