PRTG bietet noch viele Einsatzmöglichkeiten, wie z.B. die Messung von Bandbreiten, Raumtemperaturen oder CPU-Auslastungen. Als Systemadministrator erhalten Sie mit PRTG Traffic Grapher sowohl Live-Daten über den aktuellen Zustand Ihres Netzwerks als auch langfristige Auslastungstrends. Vermeiden Sie Engpässe und bieten Sie Ihren Benutzern eine bessere Servicequalität; Finden Sie heraus, welche Anwendungen Ihr Netz am meisten belasten; Planen Sie Infrastruktur-Investitionen auf Basis von zuverlässigen Auslastungstrends; PRTG läuft auf allen Windows-Plattformen, ist schnell zu installieren und intuitiv zu bedienen. Mit einer einfach zu bedienenden Windows Applikation richten Sie Ihre Sensoren ein und erstellen Auswertungen. Für den Fernzugang zu den aktuellen Überwachungsergebnissen per Webbrowser enthält PRTG Traffic Grapher einen eigenen Webserver, der die Daten übersichtlich in Grafiken und Tabellen darstellt. Alle üblichen Verfahren zur Bandbreitenüberwachung werden unterstützt: SNMP: Die Überwachung mit dem "Simple Network Management Protocol" ist weit verbreitet und am einfachsten einzurichten. Sie ermöglicht die Überwachung sowohl von Bandbreiten als auch von Meßwerten wie CPU Auslastung, Speicherauslastung oder Temperatur. Packet Sniffing: Der eingebaut Packet Sniffer analysiert jedes Datenpaket, das die Netzwerkkarte durchläuft, um die Bandbreitennutzung zu ermitteln. NetFlow: Dieses Protokoll wird von den meisten Cisco Routern unterstützt und eignet sich besonders für Netzwerke mit hohem Datenaufkommen. Bei der Überwachung mit Packet Sniffer und NetFlow kann das Datenaufkommen auch pro IP Adresse oder pro Port berechnet werden um z.B. die aktuellen Top Talkers, Top Connections und Top Protocols in Ihrem Netz anzuzeigen.
