El programa permite buscar imágenes similares (duplicadas) en grandes colecciones. Los formatos de archivos gráficos soportados son JPEG, GIF, BMP, PCX, PNG, TIFF, PGM, WMF, EMF, EPS, PSD. La comparación está basada en los contenidos de las imágenes, no depende de sus tamaños, formatos, resoluciones, etc. Hay posibilidades avanzadas de indexar las galerías disponibles en CDs y luego trabajar con ellas sin conexión. Así la comparación de nuevas imágenes con aquellas incluidas en la galería toma mucho menos tiempo, que reexplorar la galería, y es posible aún si falta el mismo CD con las imágenes. Hay facilidades internas para comparar, borrar (incluyendo grupos de imágenes), mover y actualizar archivos, cambiar el directorio raíz al que se vincula la galería.
Principales Características de ImageDupeless:
- se puede almacenar opcionalmente miniaturas de las imágenes y trabajar en modo sin conexión;
- se puede comparar una galería con nuevas imágenes sin reexplorar y aún si faltan las imágenes originales de la galería (sólo se usa el archivo de la galería) y comparar una galería con otra;
- se pueden almacenar los resultados de la búsqueda de duplicados;
- se puede actualizar rápidamente una galería, permitiendo que archivos en el disco no se vuelvan a leer (incluyendo actualización después de mover la galería a un nuevo directorio o disco);
- se puede establecer la lista definida por el usuario de imágenes diferentes (por ejemplo, cuando no quiere borrar algunas de las parejas similares y no quiere verlas de nuevo en la lista de duplicados encontrados después de la siguiente comparación);
- representación obvia y fácil de usar de los resultados de búsqueda de duplicados;
- se puede variar el índice "rendimiento/conveniencia" cambiando parámetros (almacenar miniaturas en archivos de galería, mostrar imágenes durante la búsqueda y comparación).
